Daniel Toffoli Ribeiro - A prize for best poster presentation in the area of Genetics, Evolution and Breeding of Animals, presented by the Brazilian Society of Genetics at the 2008 annual meeting held in Salvador, BA for his work with freshwater stingrays.

2007

Aureo Banhos dos Santos - A prize for best poster presentation in the area of Genetics, Evolution and Breeding of Animals, presented by the Brazilian Society of Genetics at the 2007 annual meeting held in Águas de Lindóias, SP for his work with the Harpy Eagle Harpia harpyja.

Alexandre Mendes Fernandes - Alexandre's work on passerine differentiaton was recognized as the best poster presentation at the VIII Congreso de Ornitología Neotropical, Maturin, Monagas, Venezuela in May, 2007 for his work with on genetic structuring in four passeriform species (Hylophylax poecilinota (Thamnophilidae), Schiffornis turdinus (Pipridae) and Glyphorynchus spirurus (Dendrocolaptidae)) found on the opposite sides of the Maderia River, and two of its two tributaries, the Aripuaná and Ji-Paraná Rivers.

2005

Rafaela Cardoso dos Santos - Runner-up (2nd place) in the 2005 undergraduate student competition for best oral presentation in the area of Genetics, Evolution and Breeding of Animals, presented by the Brazilian Society of Genetics at the 2005 annual meeting held in Águas de Lindóias, SP for her work with the red-headed Amazon River turtle Podocnemis erythrocephala.

Mário da Silva Nunes - Runner-up (2nd place) in the 2005 CNPq PIBIC national - all Brazil - student project competition for his undergraduate project on the phylogeography of Cichla.

Wancley Santos Garcia - Sílvio de Almeida Tolede Filho prize, a prize honoring best conservation genetic work in the area of Genetics, Evolution and Breeding of Animals, presented by the Brazilian Society of Genetics at the 2005 annual meeting held in Águas de Lindóias, SP for his work with the pied tamarin Saguinus bicolor.

2004

Andréa Martins Cantanhede - Sílvio de Almeida Tolede Filho prize, a prize honoring best conservation genetic work in the area of Genetics, Evolution and Breeding of Animals, presented by the Brazilian Society of Genetics at the 2004 annual meeting held in Águas de Lindóias, SP for her work with the Amazonian manatee Trichechus inunguis.

Rafaela Cardoso dos Santos - First place in the 2004 CNPq PIBIC regional - Manaus - student project competition for her undergraduate project on the phylogeography of the red-headed Amazon River turtle Podocnemis erythrocephala.

William Rangel Vasconcelos - First place in the 2004 graduate student competition for best conservation genetic work in the area of Genetics, Evolution and Breeding of Animals, presented by the Brazilian Society of Genetics at the 2004 annual meeting held in Águas de Lindóias, SP for his work with the black caiman (Melanosuchus niger) and the spectacled caiman (Caiman crocodilus).
