Our group is working with Guillermo and his lab group on a number of questions related to biogeography and population genetics of South American fishes, with a focus on the Amazon basin. At the moment we are focusing on the genus Prochilodus and on the genus Cichla. In addition to population genetic studies, both Tomas and Izeni are collaborating with Guillermo on reconstructing the tree of life of fishes. This effort is being developed through the Deep Fin project.
